Well, there are many things that I know young people face but here are the top five I would say young people battle with the most:

  • Peer Pressure – I know this an old point but I really do feel that peer pressure is one of the biggest battles our young people face today. This comes in various different fashions – sometimes it’s drugs but other times it’s sex. We must harness the power of peer pressure in a positive way to gain
  • Sports/Activities – Some of you youth leaders know where I’m coming when I say that sports and just activities that the world offers if just a major pull on our young people. Whenever I hear one of my young people are joining a school sport I almost cry because I KNOW that they require a lot of time and dedication and in most cases result in a disconnect with their relationship with God.
  • Jobs/Careers/Money – This is for everyone in general really but between school, friends and their job young people find it hard attending things that are put on to help them grow their relationship with God. Careers and money have a HUGE pull on young people because they want to be successful and rightfully so but as we know, sacrificing things of God for a career is not the path to go down but definitely the path young people battle with every day.
  • Music/Media/Internet – No matter what anyone tells you music, media and the internet have a major pull on young people of this age. We know why music can hinder but we rarely mention internet. Internet offers so much trash that can be accessed in a matter of seconds and our young people battle with it. No longer are we facing JUST TV or JUST magazines but X-Rated websites giving our young people trash at the touch of a button.
  • Parents – I know this is a pretty bold choice but you would be surprised how many parents really hinder their young adults rather than embracing them. In the world you will find parents that really just don’t care about their kids anymore and let them do, buy and say anything they want. In the church, we have parents that grown or punish their children from coming to church related events – yes you just red that right, there are parents that punish their young people from coming to church things. THIS my friends can hinder a young person for the rest of their life.
