28) “For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29) Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30) And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31)And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
Words representing hell in the Old Testament
-
Sheol – Place of the dead
-
Hades – State that exists between death and the resurrection
-
Gehenna – Eternal state of the lost after the resurrection
-
Tartaroo – Cast down to hell
What does the Bible say about hell?
- Rev. (20:15) – hell is a lake of fire
- Rev. (20:10 – hell is a bottomless pit
- Isa. (33:14) – hell is a place of everlasting burning
- Matt. (13:42) – hell is a furnace of fire
- Luke (16:23) – hell is a place of torment
- Matt. (25:46) – hell is a place of everlasting punishment
- Luke (16:27) – hell is a place where people pray
- Matt. (13:42) – hell is a place of welling and gnashing of teeth
- Matt. (8:12) – hell is a place of whipping
- Matt. (8:12) – hell is a place of outer darkness
- Rev. (16:10) – hell is a place where they have not light
- Mark (9:48) – hell is a place where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched
Now that we know how the Bible describes hell we know that we do not want to go there! Like the rich-man said in the Luke (16:28-31) now that it was too late and he experienced hell he wants to go back and tell his brothers about this terrible place and make sure they are prepared for heaven!
In Rev. (21:7-8) it clearly states the things that send you to hell.
7)”He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.8)But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
God tells us what we need to do in order to be saved and to go to heaven, he tells us what we should not do. All we need to do is live by what God set before us! Put aside what we want and do what we KNOW is right. God has given us a choice to live for him, rather we take it or not. God will NOT send you to hell you will only send yourself in your own decisions.
We need to take action NOW! Do not wait until it is too late, your friend’s in school or work that are lost and do not know God the way you do you should tell them about God and they will have the chance not to be lost. You do not know what the future holds that friend that you see every day might be killed in a car accident or even get ill with a deadly sickness you do not know! Act now and do not wait too long!
God sent his one and only son to save, we should at least be able to spread God’s word. We do not want ourselves or our loved ones to go to this place called HELL!
God Bless you!
Looking forward to seeing what God is going to do next!

Wow – this was one really good lesson. You did a wonderful job teaching it and posting about it. I am so excited to see all the great things that are happening in Apache Junction with The Lighthouse Youth Group! The greatest thing about it is…this is just the start!
