Acts (8:26-27, 30, 34-35)
26) And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27) And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethipia, an eunuch queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasures, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship. 30) And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read theprophte Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 34) And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himsefl, or of some other man? 35) Then Philip opened his month, and preached unto him Jesus.
Points to Ponder
- How generous you are to others with your time and money.
- How obvious the fruit of the Spirit shines through you.
- How you handle difficult situations.
- Your good work ethic.
- Your honesty despite opportunities to lie or cheat.
- Who your friends are.
- How you dress modestly and look modest in honor of God.
- How respectful you are to elders, those in authority over you, and parents.
- How polite you are in situations such as yielding to other drives, letting others in line before you, opening the door for others, etc.
Note - People with whom you do not deal in a one-on-one relationship may never know how much you pray, go to church, or read your Bible. All they know is what they see in those short moments together.
Break Point
- Our Actions - Are we known by out love, kindness, and generosity?
- Our Words - Not just spreading lies, gossip, cursing, and dirty jokes, but words without hope reflect a non-Christian viewpoint. Are out words pleasant, hopeful, and encouraging?
- Our Work Ethic - The lay convicted Daniel by his religious habits, not his impeccable work habit among sinners (Daniel 6). Is out work ethic above reproach.
- Our Finances - What do we spend and not spend our money on? Do we waste money, or do we invest money in the eternal? Does out spending reflect Christian values?
- Our Appearance - Do we look godly, or are we slaves to “what’s fashionable now”? Do we strive to look presentable, remembering that we are representing Christ? Or is it whatever we feel like wearing at the time?
Developing a Better Me
When you have been living for God a while, you know that how you act, look, and conduct your life is a witness because that is how you have been instructed. But do you know the simple explanation of how a person can be saved?
Can you witness to some without using Acts (2:38)? Acts (2:38) is not the only place that the plan of salvation is clearly defined. There are other verses for people who think they need only to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” (an essential first step) to be saved.
Acts (19:1-7)
1)And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2)He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3)And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism. 4)Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5)When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6)And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7)And all the men were about twelve.
Note - Some denominational Christian’s think that being baptized in Jesus’ name is unnecessary because they believe, and baptism is not that important. It is not our job to tell people they are wrong. It is out mission to kindly show people in the Scriptures how to be fully obedient.
W.W.J.D.
Witnessing is not that hard, but we have sometimes made it seem like that. Witnessing is living the way Scripture teaches us to live and acting the way Jesus did. Unfortunately, the phrase WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?) has been so used that people have forgotten that it is actually a wonderful maxim to live by.
- Would Jesus have acted this way at a restaurant?
- Would Jesus wear this brand?
- Would Jesus goof off at work?
I pray each of us will continue to search the scriptures and find the verses we need to witness to our friends, family and co-workers!
God Bless you!
